CHAMPIONS LEAGUE PREVIEW + RECOMMENDED TIPS

JUVENTUS vs REAL MADRID

Real Madrid have won three from the last four champions league finals, and this meet up today is between last seasons finalists.

Juventus have at last got ahead in Italy Serie A, but they haven’t really been impressive this season.  In fact, Napoli had the Old Lady on the ropes for most of the campaign. However, just five points from their last four league matches has seen them lose the lead. With just eight matches remaining the Turin club have a four point advantage, so they must be favourites to follow through.

Real Madrid also won last seasons La Liga title, but that won’t be happening this time around. Nevertheless, after a somewhat less than satisfactory start in this competition, Los Blancos showed they are still a class act by sending the super rich PSG packing.

We should just mention that the hosts have both Benatia and Pjanic suspended for this match. Bernardeschi and Howedes are also sidelined, while Mandzukic will need to prove his fitness. Real Madrid have just Nacho sidelined!

CONCLUSION

Both clubs have shown signs of wobbling this season, but that might have been down to a lack of motivation and a touch of arrogance. Nevertheless, Real Madrid looked really good in the last round and the way they have been winning in the league suggests they are back to their best.

SEVILLA vs BAYERN MUNICH

It’s hard to guess exactly how high Bayern Munich should be rated in Europe. However, top four is almost certain, albeit we wouldn’t put them ahead of Manchester City or Barcelona. Whatever the case, todays opponent Sevilla wouldn’t make it into the top fifteen, and they only qualified for this stage of the Champions league because Manchester United messed up!

Bayern are running away with the Bundesliga, albeit that’s just an average league. Nevertheless, thrashing Dortmund 6-0 at the weekend tells us they are light years ahead of the competition, and Jupp Heynckes’s side have certainly improved since they lost 3-0 in Paris.

With regards to team news, Sevilla won’t have the services of suspended Banega, while Corchia, Mercado and Jesus Navas are all doubtful. Just long term injured Neuer and Coman are out for the visitor!

CONCLUSION

We are no fans of Bayern, but we have to respect they are a league better than their opponent!
