Monaco have home advantage, and they will be wanting to do well in the Champions league. However, in our opinion selling their best players during the summer has left the hosts looking  average. In fact, just one win from five league games substantiates that theory, and to make matters worse they are without nine players this evening.

Leonardo Jardim confirmed he will be without his two most valuable players in Aleksandr Golovin and Rony Lopes. Add to that strikers Willem Geubbels, Stevan Jovetic and Pietro Pellegri are sidelined. And, it’s not just the forward line of Monaco which are coming up short, because Antonio Barreca, Almamy Toure and Ronael Pierre-Gabriel are out of defence. Maybe the one absentee who won’t be missed is goalkeeper Danijel Subasic, albeit Diego Benaglio isn’t the most robust replacement.

Atletico Madrid had their transfer embargo lifted in 2018, so like expected they started acquiring some quality players. Interestingly enough, the visitors big purchase was Tomas Lemar (€70M) from todays opponent Monaco. Rodri, Nikola Lalinic, Arias Santiago, Jonny Castro, Antonio Adan and Gelso Martins were the other players to arrive at the club.

With increased spending Diego Simeone will be expecting his players to challenge for the league title. However, after beating Real Madrid in the Super cup and winning an home match against newly promoted Rayo Vallecano (1-0), Atletico haven’t done much right. A 2-0 defeat in Celta Vigo suggested Los Colchoneros would need to improve in attack, and the weekend draw with Eibar (1-1) showed the same inadequacy.

Atletico will be without the services of the usually injured Vitolo (over-rated waste of money). Savic, Arias and Kalinic are also sidelined for the visitors. We don’t have any of the above listed has key players, and the main thing is the likes ok Koke, Griezmann, Niguez, Lemar and Costa are good to go!

We just can’t image the visitors doing other than winning this one. The have the players to get the job done, and the injuries of Monaco are a big stopper!

Losing 0-1 at home to Parma isn’t a good way to prepare for Champions league match. It’s really hard to understand what went wrong with Inter Milan at the weekend, albeit 24 goal attempts tell us Keita, Perisic, Nainggolan and Candreva came up short. The other thing to point out about that game is the hosts went chasing, and that’s when they were hit on the counter attack. However, 67% possession and eleven shots on target tell us the result was a bit of a freak.

I Nerazzurri were a much improved team last season, and we were impressed with Luciano Spalletti’s summer signings. We should also mention that the hosts showed a touch of brilliance when beating  Bologna (0-3), and they should have a lot more to offer.

Their is a lot of positives about the youth policy of Tottenham, because  big players Harry Kane and Dele Alli came through that door. What is not so impressive is owner Daniel Levi and his chequebook, because during the summer he  refused to buy a single player. With all due respect that refusal to invest can’t be a positive, and back to back defeats against Watford (2-1) and Liverpool (1-2) suggest the Lillywhites are coming up short.

Tottenham are without one of the most reliable goalkeepers in the world (Hugo Lloris). Since being arrested for drinking and driving the Frenchman is supposedly injured, and the team are clearly suffering without his services. Alli is also out, and so is regular defenders Alderweireld and Trippier. Add to that Sissoko, Janssen and Foyth are still unavailable to coach Mauricio Pochettino

Inter have a handful of players missing, but the maintain a bigger squad and all can be easily replaced.

We can’t understand why the Premier league club is so short, we see the hosts has clear favs!
