Both teams started off the 2nd half of the season well with Charlotte earning an easy 111-96 victory over the Nets and the Wizards pulling off an upset over the Cavaliers on the road last night. The Wizards have played terrifically without their injured star John Wall and have won 8 of 10 in his absence. The Hornets are going through struggles and it's hard to ascertain if they still have playoff hopes but for the time being, it appears they are still fighting. Kemba Walker and Dwight Howard were terrific again last night but it was the other players who had been woefully lacking that all turned in good performances. The Hornets have dominated this matchup this year and a lot of it is due to Howard's play in the middle that is too much to handle for the Wizards' aging Marcin Gortat. Expect another big night from Howard and an upset is certainly in the cards.
It's hard to know if the Hawks will fully embrace tanking as coach Bud did not commit to saying he will rest the starters on a regular basis. Still, it seems likely that players such as Schroder, Bazemore and Ilyasova sees less playing time in the 2nd half in what's becoming a logjam at the bottom of the standings for the coveted lottery positions. The Pacers are a playoff contender and there is no question about their effort on most nights. They had been in terrific form prior to the ASB and that should continue against a Hawks team that does not match up all too well here.
We are scraping the barrel here has both teams are near the bottom and in urgent need of points. However, we at least see a real effort from Breda, and that could hold them in good stead here. While it’s fair to point out Groningen have four more points on the board than their opponents, they have only won one of their last ten games. And, while six of those were draws, the same would suffice for our bet het here. Breda might have lost in the last round to AZ Alkmaar, but that’s acceptable has the Cheeseheads are for us the best travellers in the league. Prior to that Stijn Vreven’s side pulled off a solid draw at mid table Excelsior, and they also thrashed Heracles (6-1). The visitors have also lowered the colours of Utrecht (3-1), and they were a tad unfortunate at title contenders Ajax (3-1). We are actually surprised that the Pride of the North (Groningen) have stuck with coach Ernest Faber, because he doesn’t inspire any confidence whatsoever. This is a club that used to be red hot at home, but that’s not the case anymore. Take little old Breda to point. While Giovanni Korte is still missing for the host, he was only on the bench last week. More importantly centre back Pablo Mari is back!

Nevertheless, Okan Buruk’s team need a few more wins to make sure, and this looks a great opportunity against a moderate Konyaspor. While the latter have at least taken 5 points from their last three games, in our opinion they been really lucky. Afterall, Besiktas had double the amount of shots and the better chances in the recent 1-1. Alanyaspor missed a penalty and had a player sent off. While, Baskasehir conceded on 92 mins. The Akigo have only lost two at home, and they are playing their best football at the moment!————— PS Weekend premier league + championship video here : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F6yES4gj0zY
INDIAN HAWK is clearly highly rated, but he’s got questions to answer following a very poor run last time out. While Nicky Henderson obviously thought him good enough for that graded race, he was never travelling and should have been pulled up. Charlie Longsdon’s six year old LISDOONVARNA LAD is progressing nicely, and at least he finished a solid third in graded fact at Haydock last time out. The son of Westerner is the type to handle all types of ground, and he simply appears to be the safer option and better value. Despite receiving 6 pounds from the other pair LYGON ROCK needs to improve.
The argument for CALIPTO is an attractive mark and this better ground should suit. The argument against the Venetia Williams runner is he was well beaten in both races this season. In our opinion, KAYF ADVENTURE needs testing ground. And, the ex Dan Skelton inmate KNOCKGRAFFON was well beaten when falling last time out. The latter is very high in the weights, and we believe the trainer missed a trick by not using his seven pound claiming jockey. Skelton has a runner here with the wind operated COBRA DE MAI. The 6 year old sets good figures and knows how to win. He will almost certainly like this decent ground, and since the stable are in form fitness won’t be an issue.
TALK OF THE SOUTH seems to be most pundits pick, but we strongly disagree with their assessment. This fella might travel well but he doesn’t find much off the bridal. To be straighter still, his 1-8-3 from 23 races is off-putting enough. Our message, lets not be conned about him receiving weight from the selection. We are of the opinion that Olly Murphy is giving MORE THAN LUCK a real chance by legging up his stable apprentice Fergus Gregory. The seven year old was dropped two pounds for his recent fourth, and Gregory takes off another seven pounds. He knows how to win and trip/ground won’t be an issue!

Nevertheless, she clearly likes this track, and we have no doubt she’s the best mare in the race. KALAHARI QUEEN doesn’t look particularly well treated, so it’s surprising to see her occupy the favourites role. POLLY’S PURSUIT travelled like the winner at Doncaster, but once hitting the front she didn’t find much off the bridal.
You couldn’t say either Elina Svitolina or Angelique Kerber needed to be at their best to beat their last round opponents. With regards to the 29 year old German, she saw off a mistake ridden Karolina Pliskova. What was good to see from Kerber is she kept things simple by allowing her opponent to make mistakes. We could also comment their was absolutely no sign of emotion throughout the match, and at the end everything was straightforward. To be fair Kerber has probably done more than Svitolina this week, albeit their seems to be more to come from the Ukrainian. While it’s fair to point out that Svitolina needed three sets to beat Qiang Wang, the two she won were very easy. In yesterdays match Elina had it easier than expected against a flakey Osaka, because she just did what was necessary to get the job done. It hasn't been the ideal follow up season for last year's MAAC representative in the NCAA Tournament but it's still been a solid season for Iona as they enter this game at 10-6 in conference play. It's certainly been an improvement for Manhattan as they went from a last place 5-15 season to 8-8 with chances to possibly improve to the #4 seed. The Gaels haven't been in the best of form and we have to wonder if their heads are in this game with nothing much at stake except possibly improving their seeding. We think it's likely the Gaels are looking towards the game at conference leading Rider on Sunday while the Jaspers have sneakily covered in 4 of their last 5 with 3 outright wins. Manhattan to keep it close and we believe an outright win isn't out of the question here!
This game really only has meaning for one team as Wright St sits atop the Horizon League at 13-3, tied with Northern Kentucky but own the tiebreaker by virtue of their 2-0 in head to head against the Norse. IUPUI is at 7-9 but the Jaguars should still look to improve their seeding for the upcoming Horizon League Tournament and perhaps have set a personal goal to reach .500 in conference play with 2 games remaining. In any case, the Jaguars have been in good form and just recorded back to back wins over Milwaukee and Oakland as substantial underdogs. The Jaguars rebound the ball well and are very good at defending the 3 ball as well. Early start but Wright St hasn't impressed too much against weaker opponents. The Raiders are just 1-4 ATS their last 5 games as a favorite. Jaguars too keep it close.
