While AIK has a reputation for being good at home, we are skeptical about the current squad.
The Gnaget started the season with a new manager, and they cashed in €10.2M from player deals. While balancing the books is an acceptable business policy, this 24-man squad is lacking in depth.
While AIK did win (2-0) one of their four matches against Hammarby, they have since lost to Varnamo. With all due respect, that shouldn’t be happening. Also, a home defeat (0-3) to Norrkoping, and an opening-round loss in Halmstad are worrying!
Sirius has been a little unfortunate with early-season injuries. Nevertheless, coach Mattiasson sent his players out to draw three of their four games. For the record, the away game against Norrkoping ended 1-1, and if anything the then visitors were the better team.
There was also a (0-0) draw at home to Djurgarden, and away in Varberg. In fact, the only defeat (1-4) was against reigning champions Hacken, and they are the best team in the division.
If we go back to the last campaign, these teams played out two draws. Despite the hosts then being odds of 1.45, Sirius did a good job and where deserving of a 2-2 draw.
To cut a long story short, we believe AIK is weaker this season. Sirius has already proven their resilience against better teams, and they won’t be fazed by playing away!
