2:20  GREAT D’ANGE 9/2

METHODTOTHEMADNESS won her last race over course & distance. In fact, she was 11L clear at the line and based on that a 7-pound penalty is fair. The ground won’t be an issue, and she’s clearly in good heart.

Nevertheless, she’s never been able to win back-to-back races, and after winning at Hexham she disappointed in finishing 6th of 7 in her next race. In short, at these odds, we are struggling to get excited about Lucinda Russell’s mare.

As with many of the Skelton runners, KAYF HERNANDO is making a quick switch to the bigger obstacles. Nevertheless, he failed to progress over timber, and I’m not convinced he’s the type to do better at this game.

Irish-trained DIEGOS WAY won 2 of his 15 points to points, but he’s 0/8 over regulation fences. While I can see the logic in coming to Britain for an easier opportunity, he’s meeting a couple of tasty ones today.

On his second run over fences, GREAT D’ANGE won at Warwick. However, he fell in 2 of her 4 chase races, and jumping stopped him from winning his last race at Worcester.

However, the Tom George trained 6-year-old was only just (short-head) touched off by THE BOOLA BOSS, and he’s had 136 days to practice his jumping. I have every reason to believe that Jonathon Burke’s mount will improve in the jumping department, and a 4-pound rise is hardly a deterrent.
