Despite taking €66 million profit from player trades, the well-managed Brighton has strengthened their playing squad. Being owned by one of the smartest sports betting gamblers in the world has its advantages. Tony Bloom uses Sports modelling to find advantageous odds and similar data for player trades. As they say, the proof is in the pudding! On that note, Bloom took the Seagulls up 4 leagues on a limited budget and he wants more.

In 2021, Brighton bought Marc Cucurella from Getafe for €18 million. On the 5th of August, they sold the defender to Chelsea for €65 million. Also, Yves Boussuma was sold to Spurs for €29 million, while Neal Maupay went to Everton for €12M.

On the final day of the transfer window, the Seagulls bought Billy Gilmour from Chelsea for €10.4M. Acquiring the 21-year-old for what amounts to small change is a great bit of business! Pervis Estupinan (€17M) was the club’s most expensive purchase. Although, cash was given to Julio Enciso (€11.6 Libertad) and Simon Adingra (€8M Nordsjaelland). To make a long story short, Graham Potter is a 24-man squad, and they took 10 points from five games to date.

However, the Seagulls did lose their last game to newly promoted Fulham, and they are best playing bigger teams who attack. Suffice it to say, the emphasis will be on the hosts taking the initiative in this game, and that is problematic.

Over the past 7 years, Leicester has been a revelation. In fact, they won the title in 2015/16, and since then won the FA cup in 2020/21.

During the recent transfer window, Leicester sold Forfana to Chelsea for €80M. Brendan Rodgers was allowed to spend €17 million on a replacement centre-back in Wout Faes. Furthermore, Kasper Schmeichel left for a final payday in Nice, while Alex Smithies came in as a GK replacement. Other than that, not much happened in Leicester!

As it stands, the Foxes are bottom of the table with just one point from 5 games. Since drawing the season opener with Brentford, Rodgers’s team lost to Arsenal, Southampton, Chelsea and Manchester United.

For the most part, the visitors have been unfortunate. The coach said he’s happy with the core of his team, and they will improve. Interestingly, we believe the Leicester boss because this team is still full of quality.

In summary, we are taking the visitors to get something out of their trip to Brighton. The hosts will be wary of the finishing of Vardy, and that threat could be the difference.
