CHEPSTOW – BIG ODDS PICK

12:00 BALLYDISCO 11/1

GLITCHE GUMEE was well supported to win on his hurdling debut, and he duly landed that Stratford race by a wide margin.

However, his 7-pound penalty stopped him from winning the next time out, and the soft ground couldn’t have been the issue. In short, penalties take their toll, and the Alan King-trained 4-year-old is worth taking on!

One that could run better than his big odds suggest is KAP CHIDLEY. For the record, the 4-year-old was only just touched off in a point-to-point with the 3rd a further 13L back.

As for OUT OF THE OFFICE, there was plenty to like about his hurdling debut. Moreover, Adam Wedge gave the youngster a sympathetic ride and he should have learned from the experience.

HALF DOZEN ran better on his 2nd run, and he represents the powerful stable of Paul Nicholls. Nevertheless, he was beaten 16L and his big odds suggested he wasn’t fancied.

The selection has got to be the improving BALLYDISCO. Before making the switch to hurdles Philip Hobbs gelding was placed in a point-to-point. While he wasn’t fancied for his stable debut, the son of PRESENTING ran better than his 80/1 price tag suggested.

Subsequently, Ben Sutton rode the 5-year-old into an excellent 2nd/14 to CLONAKILTY. He was only beaten 4.5L, and the 3rd was a further 14L back. Since he made mistakes at the last two flights that day, he should be capable of even better.
