BOLD ENDEAVOUR won 4 of his 7 races, and one of them was for his new trainer Nicky Henderson. At Leicester, Nico de Boinville went from start to finish on the son of FAME AND GLORY. He ended up winning that race by a comfortable 10 lengths, and since then he’s been raised 9 pounds.
While the lightly raced 7-year-old can improve again, he’s giving plenty of weight to the others. Furthermore, winning distances at Leicester are often exaggerated, and this is a different type of track. In short, everything has a price and he’s way too short in the betting.
BARON DE MIDDLETON won 3 of his 27 races, and he was a fair 2nd last time out. However, the 10-year-old is yet to win off a mark of 120 or higher, and he’s exposed.
As for ZACONY REBEL, the outsider of the party has something to prove. For the record, he finished a 43L last at Taunton and he was outpaced for most of that race. Also, the handicapper hasn’t been kind enough to give the 8-year-old a reprieve, thus he’s racing off the same mark of 129.
Meanwhile, FAMOUS BRIDGE has the scope to improve for his switch to fences, but trainer form is a worry. Most of the stable’s runners are coming up short, and I doubt he will be the exception. Also, his win over hurdles added 10 pounds to his rating, and a mark of 128 is no gimme!
SKYTASTIC is another who needs to bounce back from a lacklustre effort. With that said, at Warwick, his jumping was the issue and he can be expected to improve in that department. The 7-year-old won 4 from his 6 races, and he’s dropped two pounds for his last run.
Moreover, we need to take a leap of faith in trainer Sam Thomas. After all, he wouldn’t have switched to fences after just 3 runs over hurdles if he wasn’t a natural.
