2.10 FUJI FLIGHT 9/2

The bookmaker’s favourite FABLE won two of her four hurdle races. For the record, Nicky Henderson’s mare was also a wide-margin winner of her only point-to-point. Her trainer didn’t waste any time in switching the 7-year-old to fences, and on her debut, she was a neck 2nd GLOIRE D’ANTHON. For that race at Sandown, she was the outsider of the party and thus ran above expectation.

Nevertheless, we need to point out that the short-priced favorite MILANS BRIDGE ran a stinker making the form questionable. In summary, while the daughter of COASTAL PATH will appreciate the extra distance, I’m not convinced that she’s a 2/1 shot.

As for FRENCH PARADOXE, he was a game-winner of a 5-runner race at Wetherby. The handicapper raised Oliver Signy’s gelding 5 pounds for that win, and if anything he would prefer more testing ground than he will encounter today.

THE EDGAR WALLACE won a Market Rasen race off today’s mark, it’s just that this looks a stronger affair. Furthermore, Kim Bailey’s gelding will need to improve on his recent 16L 2nd to DORKING LAD, and the extra distance is a worry.

Meanwhile, on his seasonal debut, FUJI FLIGHT was beaten by 41L. At the time of that race, his stable was quiet, whereas now the opposite is true. For the most part, the 7-year-old ticks all the right boxes and he’s 2 pounds lower today.

To cut a long story short, Venetia Williams will have him better prepared and that should be enough!
