French Racing Tips. I shouldn’t really be wasting my valuable time adding French Previews to the website. After all, the interest is low and there is a danger of shooting myself in the foot. However, as a one-off, here you go:

FRENCH RACING TIPS

FONTAINBLEU RACE 1 (13:38) BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN (do not bet at current odds – they will be bigger – so wait!)

JAAFAR stays the distance, but he was beaten fair and square from his handicap mark of 40.5. If we take into account today’s weights, he should place but not win!

GINO STAR won on his debut for trainer Yvonne Vollmer, and the runner he beat (comfortable 3L) was MOONFLIGHT. However, while the Schiergen runners rating (38) suggests the form was solid, those finishing behind were low-grade handicappers.

After winning on her debut, SWEET PRO  finished last in a Hamburg listed. Nevertheless, she should have more to give, and receiving weight could make her interesting for a place.

In my opinion, the most likely winner is BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN. The eight-year-old won 8 of his 34 races, and he comes into this on the back of winning in Argentan. Dorian Provost rides him well, and more to the point he takes off 3.5 kg.

For the record, the selection is rated 42 by the assessor, and I would agree with that rating. The ground isn’t an issue and neither is the distance. To cut a long story short, Yann Barberot’s gelding is the stand-out!

COMPIEGNE RACE 6 (14.40 Local) DONNE LE CHANGE 8/1

This is a Group Three Steeple Chase.

CHAMPAGNE MYSTERY is known to a UK audience, albeit the 9-year-old last ten races were in France. While we wish him well, the N. George & A. Zetterholm-trained gelding needs to find plenty!

James Reveley will be riding the likely favorite and 6 times winner YOUTWO GLASS. Danielle Mele’s 6-year-old should certainly be competitive, it’s just that he would be better suited by further.

Over this course and distance, EDDIE DE BALME fought off both GEELONG SPORT and GARDONS LE SOURIRE. In the same race, DONNE LE CHANGE was just in the lead when falling at the 3rd last.

The winning margin was 1L and 2L and EDDIE DE BALME will be carrying 2KG more today. While GEELONG SPORT is 2KG better off, the 3rd GARDONS LE SOURIRE has a 3KG pull. The same is true of DONNE LE CHANGE who in my opinion is worth a bet!

The 10-year-old is going to be even better suited by this more testing ground. Furthermore, he’s well-in with GEELONG SPORT on earlier form, and he knows (9/28) how to win.

Betting is about the odds – these are stacked with value!
