1:50 ROGUE LIGHTNING 5/1

Ten runners are declared for the Group 2 Temple Stakes, including three promising 3-year-olds: BEAUTIFUL DIAMOND (103), SEVEN QUESTIONS (107), and FLORA OF BERMUDA (101). While these youngsters have potential, they are unproven at this level.

EQUALITY is a solid horse, but this race might be too challenging for him. MAKAROVA, a 5-year-old mare, isn’t known for frequent wins. KERDOS is a course winner but faces stiff competition. VADREAM, also a course winner, is rated 104 and needs to deliver a career-best performance to contend.

Australian-trained ASFOORA stands out as an interesting contender. The Henry Dwyer-trained 5-year-old has won 8 out of 18 races and handles testing ground well. Although comparing the Australian with the UK form is tricky, she should be competitive.

LIVE IN THE DREAM had an impressive last campaign, improving his rating from 97 to 114. Trained by Adam West, this 5-year-old won last year’s Nunthorpe at Haydock and later placed 4th in two American races. As a son of PRINCE OF ALAIRE, he has won on two seasonal debuts and should be well-prepared by trainer Adam West. Ground conditions are fine, making him the one to beat. Despite this, I’m particularly enthusiastic about ROGUE LIGHTNING.

Last seen in the Abbaye, Tom Clover’s gelding struggled to find a clear run but finished strong, only 1.5 lengths behind the winner. Recently sold for £1,000,000, ROGUE LIGHTNING remains in the same stable. As a four-time winner with James Doyle booked and favourable ground conditions, he is a horse I highly regard.
