HEIDENHEIM vs WERDER BREMEN – BETTING PREVIEW
GERMAN BUNDESLIGA
While Heidenheim started with back-to-back defeats, they should have taken something from the game against Hoffenheim. However, a missed penalty led to the team’s downfall.
On the opening day, season promoted Heidenheim were beaten 2-0 by Wolfsburg. To be fair, it was a first attempt in the Bundesliga, and the then visitors did better than the result signified!
THE BIG PERFORMANCE
In the third game of the season, Frank Schmidt’s team defied big odds to draw in Dortmund. Despite trailing 2-0 after just 16 minutes, Heidenheim came out in the second half like they meant business. A goal from Dinkci on 61 minutes made it interesting, and on 82 minutes Kleindienst equalised from the penalty spot.
If we are going to add a bit of perspective to that last game, Dortmund started as the 1.25 favorites. At 2-0 up, the then hosts had dropped to odds of 1.02. For the most part, the comeback can be put down as a Bundesliga wonder!
For the record, when winning last season’s Zweite Bundesliga, FCH banged in 41 goals from 17 home games. Also, the hosts lost just one of those matches, and they certainly benefitted from playing at a sold-out Voith Arena.
BREMEN PROFILE FOR YOU
Werder Bremen ended the last season in 13th place, but just 3 points above the relegation zone! The Green/White started the new campaign with back-to-back defeats against Bayern (0-4) and Freiburg (1-0).
The club coached by Ole Werner bounced back in the last round against Mainz. On that occasion, a third-minute penalty was converted by Ducksch, and three 2nd half goals followed. To cut a long story short, it was an improved performance and the win was deserved.
During the last campaign, Werder took more points on the road (19) compared to playing at home. However, that scenario is unlikely to be repeated because this is a club that benefits from its fan base.
OUR IN-HOUSE BETTING PICK
To conclude, we like what we are seeing from Heidenheim. The last-round draw in Dortmund should give a real confidence boost, and playing at home is advantageous. While Bremen did a good job on Mainz, it’s hard to imagine them repeating that level in this away game!
