HUNTINGDON STANDOUT BET: WANT IN?

2:35 BLUELLA BRESIL 9/4

None of the rags have done enough to be included in the calculations. JJ O’Neill trained CHOOCH was unfancied for both her bumper races, and she ran accordingly! Ditto the Alan King-trained MURIEL MAY, and LADY HARRIET. While VON HALLERS has had a recent wind operation, the daughter of PRESENTING was pulled up in her last two hurdle races.

We need to concentrate on the top three in the betting, and one of them is LIGHTENING MAHLER. Harry Skelton’s Mare was a good winner of a point-to-point, and she started her rules career by winning her debut hurdle at Hereford. While the form of that race is hard to evaluate, a line through the second-placed MELUSINE DE PAIL would be worth a rating of 112/13.

However, on her only run since, the 6-year-old was a beaten favourite at Warwick. Starting at odds of 5/6 that day, she was 4th/8 beaten 36 lengths by a runner who was pulled up the next time out! She’s had a wind operation and stable runners are going well.

As for MOONLIT POTTER, the Henry Daly-trained 6-year-old won on her third attempt. Moreover, she had run well in her two previous races, and she’s proven that she wants it. With that said, she was only a neck in front of another of today’s rivals at Lingfield, and she’s conceding 7 pounds today!

If you watch a recording of that last race (here), BLUELLA BRESIL made a mistake at the last and was worried out of winning! Nevertheless, she travelled like the best horse in the race, and the experience could have only done her good. And, while MOONLIT POTTER won that race despite making a few mistakes and getting caught out tactically, she seemed to benefit from the testing ground.

We have no hesitation in betting on the Ben Pauling-trained mare. A recent wind operation and her appearance suggest she’s the one!
