KEMPTON TIPS – BANK HOLIDAY MONDAY

12:10 IBERICO LORD 4/1

Double penalties will make life difficult for RIBAUD and RARE EDITION. While both have lofty (130) ratings, they are giving 8 pounds to the potentially useful pair FATHER OF JAZZ and IBERICO LORD.

For the record, the Skelton-trained five-year-old was rated 101 on the flat. Furthermore, he should improve for his hurdling debut, but the Nicky Henderson-trained IBERICO LORD is more interesting.

On his hurdling debut, Aidan Colemans’ mount didn’t have much luck. In fact, the 4-year-old made an early mistake, and from then on he was playing catch-up. Also, his jockey reported that the gelding slipped badly on the home bend.

The selection will have been re-schooled and more is expected today.

1:20 GALIA DES LITEAUX 3/1

Following a poor chasing debut, McFABULOUS won his next two races impressively. Harry Cobden’s mount is a slick jumper, and Kempton will suit his front running style. As with his jockey, I rate the 8-year-olds ahead of stablemate GELINO BELLO. However, he didn’t beat much, and life was made easier by the poor jumping of THYME HILL. On this occasion, the Hobbs gelding is equipped with first-time cheekpieces. On three-pound better terms, he should be thereabouts.

Nevertheless, I won’t be looking any further than the Dan Skelton-trained GALIA DES LITEAUX. Connections didn’t waste any time switching the 6-year-old to fences, and it was easy to see why. After all, she left the useful MIAH GRACE for dead in that listed mares race.

The 7-pound mares allowance is a big positive, and so is the easy ground. with further improvement assured, lets go!
