Play-off final for a place in next season’s Norway Elite Serien.

On Wednesday evening, Sanderfjord won the first leg 4-0. After just three minutes, wingback Ian Smeulers got down the line to put in a cross for the first goal. While Ofkir scored, Franklin Nyenetue deserved the credit for taking out the defense!

Over the next 40 minutes, Hans Erik Ødegaard’s team dominated proceedings. However, they couldn’t get past Kongsvinger stopper August Stromberg. In fact, the goalkeeper pulled off two excellent saves before Winbo’s diving header made it 2-0.  In the 2nd half, Alexander Tveter scored the third goal and William Kurtovic made it 4-0.

At the other end, Kongsvinger had one good chance cleared off the line by Henrik Gjesdal. All in all, we thought Eirik Mæland’s team looked a bit outclassed.

As we mentioned in Wednesday’s preview, Kongsvinger did well to make it this far. After all, they finished 35 points behind the division winners Brann, a 13-7-10 isn’t anything special.

To turn a 4-0 deficit around, the KIL will need a miracle. In short, the visitors would need to do something stupid and we doubt that will happen.

While the hosts have nothing to lose by going for the jugular, being overly motivated could have a negative effect. Normally, betting on such a match wouldn’t be on our priority list, but on this occasion, we have to take the visitors. In short, we expect Kongsvinger to give Sanderfjord loads of space, and the counter-punch will be too much!
