KuPS vs HJK – BETTING PREVIEW
FINLAND VEIKKAUSLIGA
Following five opening games, HJK is 4-1-0 and with a +9 (10-1) goals difference. Albeit, the Champions played four of those matches at home.
For the record, the road game ended in VPS ending 0-1, and the difference was an own goal. While HJK missed a penalty in that match, they only managed two shots on target against a winless team!
The visitors won home matches against Honka, VPS, and Haka. However, if we go back two games they could only draw (1-1) against AC Oulu. On that occasion, Toni Koskela’s team needed a soft penalty on 80 minutes to draw level.
HJK will be missing 4 injured players, namely Perparim Hetemaj, Kevin Kouassivi-Benissan, Valtteri Moren, and Miro Tenho. While the aforementioned are less important, key defender Joona Toivio is suspended.
As for KuPS, the 2019 Champions started the season with a home defeat to Inter Turku. While the (1-2) scoreline was a bit harsh, the hosts were penalized for some shoddy defending!
In the 2nd round, the KuPS forwards failed to find the back of the net against KTP. While that 0-0 draw was less than expected, another home defeat (0-1) against Honka was especially disappointing.
As a consequence of the poor start, coach Pass Tutti was sacked and replaced by Jani Honkavaara. For those who don’t know, he was the manager who led the club to the Championship in 2019. While he had a stint at SJK, his return to KuPS bought imminent improvement.
Since taking charge, Honkavaara sent out his players to win both matches. In short, the switch to a 4-3-3 and making changes to the starting XI had a positive effect!
Under the guidance of the new boss, the likes of Saarinen, Shichenje, and Hamalai have been bought into defense. The influential Popovitch is now running the roost in midfield with an even more impressive Nissila!
To cut a long story short, HJK won just one of their last ten fixtures against KuPS. With home advantage and the new manager, we have to take the hosts with +0.25.
