LAUSANNE OUCHY vs FC ZURICH – PICK
SWISS SUPER LEAGUE
If we go back two seasons, FC Zurich ran away with the Swiss Super League title. In fact, they finished 14 points clear of next best Basel.
For the last campaign, FCZ qualified for the Champions League qualifications. However, they were knocked out of that competition by Qarabag, but they did go on to qualify for the Europa League.
Playing on both the EL Group stage and the League appeared to be too much. As a consequence of poor League results, Franco Foda was fired and replaced by Bo Henriksen.
To cut a long story short, the former Midtjylland coach didn’t take long to turn things around. While FCZ still finished near the bottom of the table, they were 4th best under the new boss.
As for the new campaign, the hosts started with two wins and a draw. For the record, Lugano (3-0) and Yverdon (2-0) were the beaten teams, and the draw (2-2) was in Servette.
Newly promoted Lausanne Ouchy lost their first two games against Lugano (0-3) and Luzern (2-1). Subsequently, Anthony Braizat’s men took a deserved point from the draw against Servette.
The biggest issue that we have with the hosts is the owners haven’t reacted to entering a bigger league. In other words, not one cent was paid for incoming players.
Meanwhile, SLO is without a handful of injured players, and one of them is key player Charles Abi. If that wasn’t enough, the club’s 2nd most valuable player Elles Mahmoud is suspended.
Traveling isn’t going to be an issue for a team like FCZ, and we expect the visitors to win this easily.
