12:10 CUTHBERT DIBBLE 7/2

RED DIRT ROAD could do no more than win both of his races to date.

Jonjo O’Neill’s inmate started racing life by making all to win a point-to-point from CORBETTS CROSS.

On the 5-year-olds first run over hurdles, the gelding was well supported before beating MRS GRIMLEY by 1.5L. For the record, that mare is rated 107, thus the form is worth around 116.

As for MOUNT TEMPEST, Harry Skelton’s mount was given a good ride to win on his 2nd attempt over hurdles. The runner he beat that day is rated 117, but I wouldn’t want to take the form at face value.

In fact, a rating of around 110 would seem a good fit and that wouldn’t be enough to win this race under a penalty.

Despite the form being let down yesterday, Uttoxeter winner CLONAKILTY should improve. Nevertheless, Olly Murphy’s 5-year-old is another who is penalized!

On the 7th of December, GARDENER chased home TWINJETS with CUTHBERT DIBBLE finishing 0.75L behind. If you watch a replay of that race (here) you should see the following.

Firstly, GARDENER was allowed an uncontested lead. Secondly, there is room for improvement in the jumping of CUTHBERT DIBBLE. Lastly, despite errors, the Nigel Twiston-Davies trained 4-year-old stayed on strongly.

To cut a long story short, the son of KAYF TARA will have learned plenty. This more testing ground will suit him better again, and he’s got more scope than his opponents!
