LESYA TSURENKO vs MAGDA LINETTE – BETTING TIP
We should congratulate Lesya Tsurenko for beating Elena Rybakina. However, after watching that match, we were left with the impression that her opponent should have won!
With all due respect, Rybakina was irrational on half a dozen break points. In fact, she converted just 3/13, and it wasn’t as if her opponent was coming up with big winners.
To be fair, Tsurenko is a former number 23 who is still capable. The Ukrainian is 18/10 this year, and she goes into this encounter with a 6/1 (YTD) grass record.
Nevertheless, we need to point out that the 33-year-olds current rank is 104, and her schedule could catch up with her.
Meanwhile, on the back of this year’s 18/16, Magda Linette is ranked 63. While the 30-year-old doesn’t have the best (46.3%) win record on grass, many of those defeats happened early in her career.
For the record, over the past three years, Linette is 14/8 on this surface. During that time, she won a W100 in Manchester and beat several higher-ranked players. To name a few, Amanda Anisimova, Elina Svitolina and Alison Riske come to mind. Moreover, in her latest match, she beat the Americans on 6/7 6/3 7/6.
What we like about Linette is her natural ability. She’s solid from most parts of the court, and she’s the type of player to grow into a tournament!
In summary, Linette is growing into this tournament. She played two matches less than her opponent, and her level this week gives her extra confidence.
