Over the course of time, Luzern has the upper hand in this fixture. However, the pecking order changed over the last few years, and St Gallen is 4-3-3 over the past 10 meetings!

As it stands, with 12 points from 10 games, Luzern is 8th of 10 in the table. However, at home, the Shiners are just 1-1-2, with the two defeats coming against Servette and YBB.

In the last round, Mario Frick’s team were easily beaten (2-0) by Sion. That means it’s three games without a win for Luzern, and more concerning is they are missing key players.

For tonight’s game, after picking up one too many yellow cards, Nicky Beloko is suspended. Also, Jakub Kadak has been added to the injury list, while Lenz Meyer is still unavailable. The big question is whether Max Meyer is able to return, he’s training but short on match fitness. Unused goalkeeper Vasic is Frick’s other doubt!

Meanwhile, St Gallen managed to take just one point from their last four games. After a strong start to the season, the Espen lost consecutive games to Sion, Young Boys and Basel. At the weekend, Peter Ziedler’s team played a 1-1 home draw with Lugano, and if anything they should have won that match!

To be fair, St Gallen has had excuses. A bad referring decision cost (2-1) the team in Young Boys. Whereas, against Basel, a 35th-minute sending-off was to blame. For the most part, Zeidler’s team are performing well, and they did win in Lugano!

The visitors are without their skipper for tonight’s match. Lukas Gortier picked up one too many yellow cards, meaning he will miss today’s game. St Gallen’s only other absentee is Fabian Schubert, but with an abundance of strikers, he’s no deal breaker!

In Summary, the visitors have the better players. We should cut them some slack for two recent defeats, and travelling won’t be an issue. In fact, playing against a team with a poor home record should make it easy!
