MECHELEN vs WESTERLO - BETTING PICK

MECHELEN vs WESTERLO – BETTING PICK

BELGIUM JUPILER

We have noticed that in the betting Westerlo are usually well supported. For those punting De Kemphanen, it’s about honours even following two wins and two defeats.

Jonas De Rock sent his players out to beat both Cerclee Brugge (2-0) and St Liege (4-2). Nevertheless, those six points were taken at home, whereas, on the road Westerlo lost to Leuven (2-0) and Gent (2-1).

On paper, being beaten by a single goal to the Buffalos (Gent) wasn’t a bad effort. However, the result could have been worse, and the fact is Westerlo again showed a weakness for playing on the road.

For the most part, De Kemphanen have been strong at home but moderate in away games. For the record, this phenomenon is nothing new, and you can proof it by looking through past results. Consequently, the newly promoted team are competitive, but we expect away matches to be the proverbial banana skin!

Meanwhile, Mechelen are a club who rely on home advantage. At one stage last season De Kakkers where the best host in the league, and they still finished fourth best. Incidentally, those 34 points were only two less than Gent and Club Brugge.

In the season opener, Mechelen lost a home fixture to Antwerp (0-2). Subsequently, another defeat in Oostende suggested problems for coach Buijs’, but that worry has since been alleviated. In week 3, De Kakkers beat last seasons 2nd placed team Royale Union 3-0, and followed with a 0-0 draw in Cerclee Brugge!

Whichever way we look at it, these odds about the hosts are high-value. Suffice to say, we won’t be holding back!
