The betting market is seeing something in Nice that we haven’t. While Les Aiglons are unbeaten in their last four home games, we prefer to take a look at the bigger picture.

As it stands, Nice managed 8 points from 9 home games. Moreover, they scored a league-low 6 goals, and since resumption just one goal in three competitive matches. As a consequence, Lucien Favre was sacked as head coach and replaced by Didier Digard.

For the record, at the weekend, Nice lost a cup game to lower league side Le Puy-En-Velay. To put that defeat into perspective, Favre’s men started at betting odds of 1.28.

Previously, Nice was beaten 2-1 by Rennes, and that one-goal difference should have been bigger. While the hosts did manage to draw 0-0 against Lens, that was the first game after the World Cup break.

Nice is without important defender Youcef Atal, while Marcin Bulka won’t be able to challenge Kasper Schmeichel for the goal-keepers slot. Andy Delort is another important absentee for the home team.

Meanwhile, Montpellier is just 5-2-10 this season, and they come into this match on the back of losing a league and cup game.

Nevertheless, La Paillaide did manage to win a recent away game in Lorient, and they seem to be getting it together under Romain Pitau.

Since Arsenal is trying to sign Elye Wahi, he’s unlikely to play for the visitors. Pedro Mendes and Theo Sainte-Luce are other absentees!

For the most part, Montpellier has a good record against Nice. In fact, the visitors won this fixture last season, and they are 3-1-1 over the last five meetings. We fancy Pitau’s men to get a point or three, so with the +0.5 start the bet is obvious.
