ENGLAND PREMIER LEAGUE

Forest has been badly impeded by missing players all season. As it stands, Steve Cooper will be going to war without Neco Williams, Scott McKenna, Giulian Biancone, Wily Boy, Gustavo Scapa, Omar Richards, and Dean Henderson.

Another player who is unlikely to be ready in time is Danilo, albeit he’s training again and should soon be available. The out-of-favour Jonjo Shelvey is a doubt, and Cooper didn’t know if Brennan Johnson would recover in time. On a more upbeat note, Jack Colback after a recent concussion. Also, the hosts have a 35-man squad and plenty of player options.

To be fair, despite just one win in 13 games, the Tricky Trees have been playing well. Recent defeats to Liverpool (3-2) and Brentford (2-1) were close calls and sandwiched in between was an impressive 3-1 win over Brighton.

In February, Forest forced a draw against Manchester City, and they are 6-6-5 at the City Ground. With a passionate crowd behind them, today’s starting XI will be fully motivated for the challenge ahead.

As for Southampton, with 4 games remaining the Saints need to make up 6-points to the safety zone. While there is still a small chance of that happening, the visitors will need a miracle.

The Saints have had a weird season, in that they have tended to be better against the bigger clubs. In fact, a recent 3-3 in Arsenal ruined that club’s chance of taking the Championship!

For today’s game, Ruben Selles is without the recently operated Romain Perraud. Other injured players are Juan Larios, Mohammed Salisu, and Valentino Livramento.

In goal, Selles will need to choose between Gavin Bazunu or Alex McCarthy. Armstrong should retain his place, but Che Adams might be preferred ahead of  Moussa Djenepo.

The Tricky Trees are putting up a good fight and we expect them to take the vital 3-points.
