PLUMPTON 12:25 FILANDERER 9/2

TEA AND CHATS made a pleasing debut, and he should improve with racing. Nevertheless, I’m surprised to see him clear in the betting market.

FORTUNA LIGNA receives the mares allowance, and she ran her best race last time out. However, Anthony Honeyball waited a while before making the switch to hurdles, and that makes me think this will be more educational than anything else.

PEACE OF ROME was a beaten favorite in all three races, and if anything this race is a bigger test.

My eyes headed straight toward Hughie Morrison’s 6-year-old FILANDERER. The son of Kayf Tara will appreciate this testing ground, and he’s clearly better than his last run when he was impeded.

To cut a long story short, this fella looked good in winning a bumper and I’m liking his chance in this one!

LUDLOW 12:15 HASTY PARISIAN 4/1

I disagree with the racing posts’ assessment that HAAS BOY is well handicapped. While Charlie Longsdon’s 5-year-old was behind a winner that progressed to a higher mark, those finishing behind didn’t do much.

BURROWS PARK is surprisingly short in the betting, and at current odds, I will be happy to lay the 10-year-old.

The one that stands out is Gina Andrew’s mount HASTY PARISIAN. While he could only finish 4th last time out, two of those who finished in front have won since. For the record, the 4-year-old has dropped two pounds, and he will be more suited by better ground.

Finally, Milton Harris has his stable in good knick, and racing on a right-handed track is ideal.
