PETRA MARTIC vs CAROLINE GARCIA – BETTING TIP
Interesting statistic, Caroline Garcia leads the head to heads 3/0. The last meeting was in 2018, and it ended with Petra Martic retiring after the first set. During that same year, Garcia went on to reach a career-high rank of 4. In comparison, Martic peaked at rank 14 in 2020.
For the record, the French player made the semi-final of last year’s Lausanne, meaning she is protecting points. As it stands, her rank of 48 is still the same, and a win today would move her to 43. In contrast, Martic started the tournament ranked 85, but after making the semi-final she’s moved up 19 places to 66!
In the quarter-final, Martic did what we expected against Belinda Bencic. Despite having her traditional wobble towards the end, Martic played solid tennis and was a deserving winner!
However, our arguments before that match included that Bencic wasn’t about to be peaking at a WTA250. In short, she was meeting a significantly higher-ranked player at the right time!
Meanwhile, Caroline Garcia made light work of her quarter-final opponent Sara Sorribes Tormo. Consequently, she overpowered the Spaniard’s deference, and in doing so took control of the match.
Garcia is on a roll with 11 wins from her last twelve matches. Winning Bad Homburg gave the French player a new lease of life, and if anything she’s looked better this week.
We are recommending the former number four, she’s in the zone and can be trusted to deliver.
