According to the betting, the bookmakers are rating this match close to 50/50. However, despite Atletico winning the reverse match, we expect Porto to take revenge and finish on top of the group.

As it stands, Club Brugge is leading Group B by one point from Porto. These two teams have qualified for the knockout round, and both will want to go through as group winners. The reason is that would mean playing a team that had finished 2nd in one of the other groups.

Meanwhile, Atletico is just 3rd in the table, albeit they have a one-point cushion over Bayer Leverkusen. For the record, both are playing for a consolation place in the Europa League, and only the 3rd will be given a bye. While Atletico has fate in their own hands, Leverkusen has the easier match!

If we go back to the first Group game played on the 7th of September, Atletico beat Porto 2-1. Interestingly, those three goals all came during 12 minutes of injury time, and after Porto had been reduced to ten men.

In that match, Mehdi Taremi was sent off for a second yellow card at 81 minutes. Atletico reserve Hermoso scored in the first minute of injury time, but the score was 1-1 after Uribe scored from the penalty spot. The turning point came in the final chance of the game when Griezmann scored with a close-range header.

Despite winning that reverse match, Diego Simeone’s men didn’t impress. In fact, the visitors created more opportunities, and they deserved a share of the points!

Subsequently, Atletico failed to win any of their other 4 games, and in the last two rounds could only draw at home with Club Brugge and Bayer Leverkusen. In the last round of the Spanish League, Atletico was beaten by Cadiz and with it dropped to third in the La Liga table.

On the other hand, Porto bounced back from two opening defeats to win their next three games. Two of those were against Bayer Leverkusen, and the other was a 0-4 thrashing of Club Brugge.

For tonight’s match, Porto is without suspended players David Carmo and Uribe. Pepe is still injured for the hosts, while Veron is in slight doubt. Whereas, the visitors confirmed that Koke, Marcos Llorente, and Lemar are injured.

To summarise, Porto will want to take revenge for the reverse match. The hosts have a free roll of the dice to win the group, and they are the form team. With home advantage for good measure, why not!
