RACING BEST BETTING TIPS

REDCAR 3:50 GORAK 3/1

On his 3rd start, ENCOURAGEABLE was tried in a listed race. However, he didn’t have the necessary class to get involved, and it was disappointing to see him beaten by 14.5L. While James Horton’s colt is expected to do better in this grade, I’m dubious about his short odds.

CASSEY O is much more exposed than the others, and he’s never been able to win from such a high mark. Moreover, in his last race, he finished 9th of 9, thus he’s got something to prove.

Meanwhile, GORAK would have needed his return run, and he wasn’t beaten far in that Chester race. Richard Fahey’s son of GOKEN progressed from race to race last season, and he can do the same again. The mile on the fast ground won’t be an issue, and receiving weight from the others is positive.

STRATFORD 1:30 LARCH HILL 4/1

ATLANTIC STORM is 10 pounds out of the handicap, thus he should be 20/1 and not 10/1.

While ELIOS D’OR is just one pound wrong, he’s actually racing in class 2 for the first time. In fact, when last seen, Robert Walford’s 8-year-old was 2nd in class 4. Nevertheless, in receipt of weight, the favourite should be competitive.

For the most part, 3 times winner CADDYHILL needs to improve on recent form. For the record, he’s carrying two pounds more than he will in future.

The reason for several of these carrying extra weight is MICK PASTOR. Paul Nicholls 6-year-old is rated 140, which means he’s giving 18 & 26 pounds to his rivals. Suffice to say, that is a lot of weight in a small field and it’s not like he’s in the best of form.

Brian Hughes will again be riding LARCH HILL for Charles & Adam Pogson. The Champion rode him 5 times to date, and he won three of those races. While he was below par when last seen, it was the same before he bounced back to beat ATLANTIC STORM.

Furthermore, he’s twice a winner over course and distance, and he’s actually meeting his old rival on 12-pound better terms. In summary, the 9-year-old knows how to win, and he must have a big chance of landing this good prize.
