LUDLOW 1:00 JAR DU DESERT – 5.6 BETFAIR (If you are betting with bookies, get in at the right time)

On her racing debut, MARSHELLA won a 4-runner fillies race. For the most part, the daughter of GETAWAY jumped well and won with a bit in hand. However, Oliver Signy’s filly beat nothing, and those finishing behind her have since been well-beaten.

As for SPIRIT D’AUNOU, he landed odds of 2/7 in a three-runner race at Huntingdon. On that occasion, Gary Moore’s gelding was firmly ridden to get the better of TINTINTIN. In fact, the 2 length difference that day was down to a good jump at the last and the 2nd being eased close home. For the record, TINTINTIN was giving the son of TRIPLE THREAT 7 pounds, and it wasn’t like the winner was impressed.

JAVERT ALLEN is a rangy type of gelding, and he should be even better when he goes chasing. In the meantime, despite running a bit green he won well on his hurdling debut. While the favourite in that race OUR FOLLET fell, I don’t believe it affected the result. Nevertheless, the bare form isn’t worth much, and as with the favourite he’s penalized for today’s race.

I’m going to recommend siding with the son of KAPGARDE, namely JAR DU DESERT. The Tom George gelding was fitted with a hood for his hurdling debut, and it was easy to understand why. After all, Tom George’s inmate looked a handful, and his jumping wasn’t the best. In fact, he was bunny hopping his hurdles, and hanging to the left didn’t help his jockey.

With that said, as the race progressed the 4-year-old started to get the hang of things. Moreover, he ran-on-well and he seemed to finish with plenty of fuel in the tank.

The challenge for today’s jockey Sean Bowen is to get him settled and jumping better. Consequently, this bet is based on the belief of better to come, and that recent experience won’t be wasted. Finally, I just want to reiterate, the other three at the head of the betting market are all carrying 7-pound penalties.
