Weight isn’t necessarily a stopper over sprint distances, but in a small field, it is a disadvantage. The topweight ATIYAH is burdened with 9-11, and she comes into this on the back of a poor run at Haydock. Nevertheless, after anticipating the start that day, the run is best forgotten!

Previously, she did win at Thirsk, and her trainer suggested improvement was down to the faster ground. In short, the 4-year-old filly will get conditions to suit, but an increased mark and big weight are negatives.

Following a disappointing run, INSTINCTION  is having a change of jockey. Kevin Stott is taking over on the Brian Smart-trained filly, and he should be able to get her to settle better. Consequently, she should run better, but I can’t see her winning today’s race.

VADAMIAH won 2 of her seven races, and one of those was over this course and distance. Since this undulating track doesn’t suit all types, at least she ticks that box.

However, while the three-year-old is lightly raced and open to improvement, her best form is on easier ground. Furthermore, those wins forced the handicapper to react, and a mark of 72 is high. Lastly, Paul Midgley is running two, and his preferred jockey Graham Lee chose to ride LUCKY SHAKE.

In finishing 2nd in her last race to GLORY HALLELUJAH, the ZELZAL daughter comes into this on the back of an improved run. While the handicapper raised her three pounds for that effort, a mark of 76 isn’t a deal breaker. Finally, she’s run well at the track, and conditions shouldn’t be an issue.
