SALISBURY LISTED – STAND OUT BET

4:30 CAERNARFON 7/2

There are some interesting races on today’s Salisbury card, and this Fillies listed class is one of them. The ground is reported as being good, and we would suggest you look for a strong stayer at this track!

At 5 years of age, 103 rated STATE OCCASION is the oldest runner in the field. The son of IFRAAJ is yet to win in this class, but he’s steadily progressive and can be competitive for a place!

The 4 times raced AMEYNAH is stepping up in distance, and it’s unlikely to suit. For the record, the 4-year-old is sprint bred, and there is nothing in his pedigree pointing to 10F being best.

On official ratings, both QUEEN OF THE SKIES and ROUSAY need to find plenty. While both should be suited by conditions, a career-best is required!

Meanwhile, 4 times winner RUNNING LION heads the betting. The Gosden-trained grey was a comfortable winner of a Newmarket Listed race before disappointing at Chantilly. While she comes from a stable that has returned to form, she might prefer a bit more juice in the ground.

Furthermore, I need to point out that she’s carrying a 3-pound penalty, and a mark of 108 lives her with something to find on the selection!

I LIKE THIS ONE!

As for my idea of the winner, it’s got to be the down-in-grade CAERNARFON. Jack Channon’s 3-year-old comes into this on the back of a 5th or 6th in the Nassau. On that occasion, she wasn’t beaten far by some crack fillies/mares. A 3rd of 9 in the Oaks tells us just how good she can be, and with that in mind, she’s got less to prove than the others.

To cut a long story short, this looks like a great opportunity for the daughter of CITYSCAPE. According to the assessor, she’s got 6 pounds in hand of the jolly, and we like the ways she’s been progressing!
