2:25 FINE CASTING 7/2

While he’s improved for fences, I’m surprised to see KEEP RUNNING as the top tipped runner in the field. James Bowen’s mount is up 4 pounds for winning a four runner affair at Taunton, and the form of that race as since been let down by the 2nd!

With a 26% strike rate, Harry Denham is starting to make a name for himself. In this race, the trainer is fielding 136 rated SIR PSYCHO. Last time out, the 8 year old was a beaten favourite in Exeter. He’s another 2 pounds higher today, but more concerning he’s dropping back in distance.

My concern with GENERAL MEDRANO is a handicap mark of 134. He’s 9 pounds higher than when he won at Huntingdon, and he’s 16 pounds higher than his hurdles rating.

At this moment in time, I’m swerving runners from the yard of Dan Skelton. While the trainer is saddling back-to-back winner MOUNT TEMPEST, stable form is a concern!

With the potential of more to come, KOTMASK is one with a definite chance. Gary Moore’s 6 year old is on a fair handicap mark, and he wasn’t beaten far in a competitive race last time out!

However, for the winner I readily prefer FINE CASTING. While Ben Pauling’s 8 year old won all his four races on a left-handed track, he actually ran his best race here in Sandown. I’m referring to when he finished 4/16 in last seasons Imperial Cup.

For the record, Ben Jones mount is three pounds lower than he was in that race. First time cheekpieces will help his cause, and knowing he jumped around Cheltenham suggests this track shouldn’t be a problem!
