SEDGEFIELD RACING TIP FOR FREE
12:25 SILKSTONE 4/1
The heavily tipped BASHFUL is worth taking on! While he stayed on well to win a good ground race at Uttoxeter, the 4-year-old was a miler on the flat. The extra furlong is a factor, and so is carrying a big weight (11-9).
While Iain Jardine’s gelding won a race on heavy ground, today’s conditions will put an emphasis on stamina. Also, he’s giving weight away to the other two principals, and his wins came at Flat tracks.
Finally, Sedgefield is an undulating course, and it doesn’t suit all!
Meanwhile, the short-priced favourite is the 82-rated TELHIMLISTEN. Switching to handicaps from a low mark will give Jennie Candlish’s 6-year-old gelding a good chance.
However, while he’s only raced three times under rules, the son of FAME AND GLORY doesn’t have much scope.
Furthermore, in his most recent race, he was beaten 18 lengths by GENERAL OFFICER. If the winner had wanted, that distance could have been significantly more!
The one to be on is Danny Brooke’s SILKSTONE. The 6-year-old isn’t the most prolific (3/46), but he comes into this race at the peak of his form. In fact, Emma Smith-Chaston rode him to a course and distance win last time out.
For the record, that was on soft ground like today, and he won by a comfortable 4.5L. While the handicapper raised him 6 pounds, his jockey can claim 5 pounds in this race.
Consequently, the selection ticks the right boxes. He’s the one with the least amount of questions to answer, and he’s being offered at a working man’s price.
