SJK vs HJK – BETTING PREVIEW
FINLAND VEIKKAUSLIIGA
In this top-of-the-table clash, the first and third-placed teams will be wanting to lay down a marker. As it stands, SJK are the League leaders with 35 points from 16 games. Meanwhile, the reigning champions are 4 points behind and played a game more.
For the record, back in June, the reverse game ended 0-0. Based on the stats from that match, a point apiece was a fair result.
SJK has been in great form this season. In fact, the team coached by Joaquin Gomez lost just one (10-5-1) of their 16 games.
At the OmaSP Stadion SJK are 6-1-1, with their latest home win being a 1-0 over Honka. Incidentally, from those 16 matches, they kept ten clean sheets!
For the most part, SJK has been defending particularly well. The exception was the 1-4 league and cup loss to AC Oulu.
On a positive note, the club from Seinäjoki has just one confirmed absentee, namely Matias Vainionpää. That means Martti Haukioja should be available, and so is the rest of the squad.
As for HJK, the visitors won’t have the services of 4 players. Long-term injured Valtteri Moren is still in rehabilitation, while Oliver Pettersson hasn’t played since May. Of more significance, first-team members Aleksi Paananen and Matti Pelota are out. Lastly, goalkeeper Jesse Ost picked up a minor injury in the last game, and he might need to be replaced by Dejan Illiev!
During the week, Toni Koslela’s men defied the odds to win (1-0) a Champions League qualification game against Molde. However, on Tuesday they must travel to Norway for the reverse game, and that is going to be a much bigger test!
For the most part, HJK has been poor in the league. Moreover, the visitors won just 2 from 8 away games, and this game comes between those Champions League ties!
In summary, SJK can put it to bed. Win today and the points gap will put them in a very strong position to win the Title!
