FRANCE LIGUE ONE

Following a good start to the season (a win and 2 draws), Toulouse dropped off the pace. In fact, Les Pitchouns lost their last three games against Clermont, PSG and Nantes.

If that wasn’t bad enough, TFC boss Philippe Montanier lost another player to injury this week. In the defeat to Clermont, Brazilian winger Rafael Ratao picked up a thigh injury. From what we understand, he’s going to be missing for the next month.

In addition, start striker Rhys Healey continues on the sidelines, while Guillaume Restes isn’t available to the goalkeeping department. With another 4 goalkeepers in the 26-man squad, missing a 17-year-old isn’t going to be an issue. The club’s other absentee is recently loaned (PAOK) central midfielder Theocharis Tsingaras.

Toulouse will be hoping for better performances from Dutch youth international Thijs Dallinga. Also, Ado Onaiwu gives Montanier another striking option, but other than that the squad doesn’t have many goal scorers!

Meanwhile, Reims started the campaign with back-to-back defeats. In the 2-4 loss against Clermont, the turning point was having Agbadou sent off on 47 minutes. For the record, at the time of his dismissal, the Champagne club were leading 2-0. Suffice to say, the result is best forgotten.

Subsequently, Oscar Garcia’s men played three draws and won in Angers. Furthermore, the draw against Lyon was particularly noteworthy because Jens Cajuste was sent off in 64 minutes!

For today’s match, coach Garcia will be serving the second of his two-game touchline bans. The visitors are without Thomas Foket, Kaj Sierhuis and Azor Matusiwa, but Cajuste is available after serving his ban.

Conclusion:

Reims is growing into the season, and they have more quality in the squad than Toulouse. While TFC has a home advantage, missing two main strikers is going to make scoring a bigger challenge.
