ONE DAY ONLY (Black Friday) – 12 months of FOOTBALL PICKS for € Do not miss out if you are wanting the deal of the YEAR.

In the opener, Wales was quickly on the Backfoot against the USA. In fact, we were bamboozled as to why the coach didn’t react sooner, albeit they responded in the 2nd half.

For the first 45 minutes, the Dragons were badly organized. The supposed 3-4-3 looked more like a 5-4-1, and simply put their opponent should have punished them.

As for the match, the USA took 36 minutes to score the first goal. Welsh wingback Neco Williams was the man to blame, in that he could have easily made Weah offside. Instead of taking a step forwards, the Nottingham Forest player was exposed by the pace forward.

Nevertheless, we can’t put all the blame on the defenders, especially, since they were left exposed by the midfield. In turn, the front three of Harry Wilson, Gareth Bale, and Daniel James failed to do any sort of job.

It bets the question, why did Wales manager Rob Page wait until half-time to change James? After all, the Fulham player failed to control a single ball and he was a real liability.

To be fair, the Wales boss replaced James with Kieffer Moore at half-time. From that stage on, the Dragons started to up the ante. To cut a long story short, 82 minutes converted a penalty for a share of the spoils.

Iran started their campaign with a 6-2 mauling by England. If anything, the result could have been worse, and the 2nd goal of Iran was a gift from the referee.

While Iran coach Carlos Queiroz set up his team to contain the Three Lions, that plan didn’t work. In short, England easily exposed the Iranian defense and they will need to improve. For the record, Team Melli had performed better against Uruguay and Senegal, albeit that was at the friendly level.

The issue that we have with Iran is GK Alireza Beiranvand suffered a head injury against England. Since it was a concussion, he won’t be allowed to play today. While Hossein Hosseini didn’t do much wrong against England, he conceded 6 goals.

In conclusion, while Iran is capable of better, we expect Wales to beat the Persians. From that last match, we could see that the Iranian defenders didn’t fancy the stand-in goalkeeper. The pressure is on the team of Queiroz to win, and that’s when things will go wrong!
