WESTERLO vs CLUB BRUGGE  – BETTING PREVIEW

BELGIUM JUPILER

WESTERLO STRONG AT HOME

Westerlo boss Jonas De Roeck will be disappointed with how his team conceded two early goals against Eupen. However, he would have been delighted with how his players responded to secure a draw!

As for that match, the first conceded goal was down to goalkeeper Sinan Bolat. Rather than turn the ball out of play for a corner, the 34-year-old decided to fist it to an opposing striker. Meanwhile, the second goal came back off the post, and none of the Westerlo defense reacted!

The fortunes of De Kemphanen changed after De Roeck bought on substitutes Kyan Vaesen and Matija Frigan. Three minutes later, Mathias Fixelles was bought down in the box, and Nicolas Madsen converted a penalty.

At 82 minutes, the coach decided to hand a club debut to 18-year-old Lucas Stassin. On 90 minutes, the youngster pounded on a goalkeeping error to secure a 2-2 draw.

For the most part, Westerlo had more chances than their opponent. Nevertheless, the takeaway from that match was the defense will need to be sharper, but they did look good in attack.

CLUB BRUGGE BRIEFING

To tell the truth, we were disappointed in the opening game of Club Brugge. Ronny Della’s men failed to beat a usually poor traveling Mechelen, and truth be known they were awful in the last third of the pitch.

While the Black/Blue played the last 15 minutes of that match with a player less, they needed a converted penalty for the draw. For the record, Maxim De Cuyper was sent off that day, meaning the left-back is suspended.

During the week, Club Brugge went to Aarhus for the 2nd leg of the European Conference League qualification. Despite winning the first leg 3-0, Della decided to keep the core of his team for that away game. While the match ended 1-0 the Danish team, Club won by a 3-1 aggregate.

For today’s match, Bjorn Meijer should cover for the missing De Cuyper.  All of Josef Bursik, Ferran Jutgla, and Chemsdine Talbi are injured and face differing spells on the sideline!

CONCLUSION

While it wasn’t necessarily the case last season, Westerlo is known for being especially good at home. With the crowd behind the hosts, and Brugge having one eye on the Europa Conference League – this looks a good time to get with the Kemphanen.

BET: WESTERLO +0.5 (double chance)

Odds: 1.91
