WINDSOR HANDICAPPER: THROWN IN FOR THE WIN!

WINDSOR HANDICAPPER: THROWN IN FOR THE WIN!

5:40 SAFARI DREAM 4/1

BETWEENTHESTICKS is performing well but tends to finish second. While the Jack Channon-trained 4-year-old has won 3 of his 31 races, he has finished second 9 times. In short, Rose Dawes’ mount is better suited for placing rather than winning.

ON EDGE, a 6-year-old trained by Christopher Mason needs to bounce back from a poor run. Previously, he finished second in two races, narrowly beaten by the in-form mare JACQUELINE. Although he has a good record on this course, a downside is that Gina Mangan won’t be able to claim her usual three-pound allowance.

Marco Botti’s INSPIRED KNOWHOW should improve from his last race at Nottingham. Despite being a course and distance winner, he is now on a 5-pound higher handicap mark, thus a place finish would be commendable.

RECON MISSION has won 7 of his 62 races, with the last win (2022) off a mark of 78. Currently 12 pounds lower, he has been raised 4 pounds for finishing a close second to INSPIRED KNOWHOW. However, his declining form means an additional increase in his handicap mark will be tough.

I confidently recommend SAFARI DREAM as the most likely winner. Rod Millman’s 4-year-old has won 3 of his 19 races, including one over this course and distance. The ground conditions are favourable, and dropping from Grade 3 to Grade 5 is advantageous.

On April 29, the son of BUNGLE INTHEJUNGLE was only beaten by a length over this course and distance by ANTIPHON. The form of that race is strong, with ANTIPHON having finished close up in a big sprint and now rated 6 pounds higher. Subsequently, SAFARI DREAM was dropped another 4 pounds, and on this occasion, his jockey Oliver Searle claims another five pounds. With the Millman stable in excellent form, SAFARI DREAM is well-positioned for a big run!
