BEATRIZ HADDAD MAIA vs JESSICA PEGULA

WTA DOHA QUARTER-FINAL BETTING TIPS

BEATRIZ HADDAD MAIA vs JESSICA PEGULA

Jessica Pegula dug deep to win a close encounter with Jelena Ostapenko. However, she benefitted from her opponent losing focus, and the result could have been different. To cut a long story short, we were not overly impressed by the performance.

While the American should benefit from the experience, needing 1:53 court time was less than ideal. Also, we can Pegula targeting next week’s Dubai rather than the current tournament.

When it comes to a battle, Beatriz Haddad Maia will fight as though her life depends on it! Consequently, the Brazilian is one of the strongest competitors on tour.

Haddad Maia beat her last opponent Daria Kasatkina to win in straight sets. In a battle of wills, the 26-year-old was getting more distance on the ball and winning the long game.

To summarise, Beatriz is not into the habit of giving away cheap points. The emphasis will be on Pegula to take the game to her opponent, and it’s that which can backfire!

MARIA SAKKARI vs CAROLINE GARCIA

WTA DOHA QUARTER-FINAL BETTING TIPS

MARIA SAKKARI vs CAROLINE GARCIA

In yesterday’s late match, Caroline Garcia saved three match points before progressing past Karolina Muchova. By the end of that three-hour encounter, Garcia’s superior fitness got her through.

While the French player battled well, we have to point to the fact that Muchova missed opportunities. In fact, not being able to convert any of the three match points was her Achilles heel!

Meanwhile, Maria Sakkari is back in business! After going through a challenging 2022, the 27-year-old appears to be heading in the right direction.

Sakkari is 10-3 this year, and she arrived here on the back of making the semi-final of Linz. For the record, in 3 previous tournaments, Maria beat Elise Mertens, Petra Martic, Parrizas-Diaz, and Donna Vekic. All of those can be listed under decent players.

Since arriving in Doha, the Greek player raised her game again. For the record, she beat the up & coming Qinwen Zheng and followed up with an impressive win over Ekaterina Alexandrova.

In conclusion, Garcia must be feeling the effects of yesterday’s match. Moreover, she’s not had long to recover, and she will have one eye on next week’s Dubai. Despite Caroline leading the head-to-head 3-0, this looks like a great opportunity for Sakkari. After all, she’s in top form and will see this as an opportunity.
