BERNARDA PERA vs DIANA SHNAIDER
Bernarda Pera was expected to push on this year, but it hasn’t really happened for the 28-year-old. In fact, while Pera did reach a career-high rank of 27 in July, she’s been dropping points ever since!
As it stands, Pera goes into today’s match with an 18/17 YTD (year to date). Her two wins (here) against Zeynep Sonmez and Kaia Kanepi took her back into positive territory.

While Pera is playing on her favorite (70.7%) surface, she lost to today’s opponent in the first round of Budapest. Since that meeting was only a week ago, it’s actual form!!
Meanwhile, Shnaider missed large chunks of the current season. At the time of writing, the 19-year-old is just 13/11, albeit two wins here took her back into the top 100.
If we go back to the last year, Shaider won 66 of her 86 matches. Her strike rate on clay is close to 75%, and at the back end of the last season, she won Uruguay.
Diana lists Veronika Kudermetova, Alycia Parks, and Rebecca Marino as her recent victims. Moreover, she looked very good in winning her last match against Julia Grabher (6/4 6/2).
In conclusion, we have established the fact that Shnaider is capable of much more! She’s bagged a recent win over Pera, and her last-round win was impressive. While there is always an ‘’if’’ in WTA, more of the same should suffice!
