ANDERLECHT vs ST LIEGE – BETTING PREVIEW
BELGIUM JUPILER
After cashing in over €22 million in player trades, it was inevitable that Anderlecht would be weakened. Under such circumstances, competing in both Europe and the league was always going to be a challenge.
To be fair, the Purple and White have also struggled with injured players. However, for now, things have improved, and we only expect to see three players unavailable for today’s match!
On a positive note, during the winter transfer window, the club invested in new players. One of them was winger Anders Dreyer, who incidentally scored 3 goals in 6 games. Another recent signing was 34-year-old striker Islam Slimani, he scored against St Truiden.
As it stands, Anderlecht took 11 points from their last five league games. In midweek, by beating Ludogorets they qualified for the next round of the conference league. To cut a long story short, since Brian Riemer took over as coach Anderlecht improved.
Meanwhile, St Liege occupies 6th place in the Jupiler League table. Les Rouges took 18 of their 41 points on the road, and they come into this on the back of winning at 2nd-placed Royale Union. Previously, St Liege had lost a home fixture against bottom six club Kortrijk.
For the record, St Liege won just one of their last 13 meetings against Anderlecht. Whereas the Purple and White won 8 of those fixtures, and the last time the visitors won here was in 2014.
In summary, the hosts are starting to cook again! Following recent results, confidence is at a season high. We can’t imagine the visitors getting anything from this match.
