ASCOT BANKER: MORE PROFIT EXPECTED TODAY

3:05 INISHERIN 9/4

ELITE STATUS is now a non-runner, thus reducing the field size to 14.

While ORNE doesn’t win many, his odds of 100/1 are massive. I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Gosden runner finish near the places, but he won’t win!

In French sprints, CLASSIC FLOWER is usually thereabouts in races over 1000-1200M. However, she was a beaten favourite last time, and her overall form isn’t good enough for this league!

There is nothing to suggest MALC will find the necessary improvement, while LAKE FOREST would need a personal best to be involved on his return from a 265-day absence.

Over the past five years, betting Stuart Williams runners to a level stake would have produced a negative 38% ROI. Nevertheless, the trainer found a good one with four-time winner PANDORA’S GIFT, and she’s progressive enough to be in contention for a place.

While KIND OF BLUE won both his races, he must find more than 20 pounds. The ex-Andre Fabre trained EVADE won on his first start for Archie Watson, but he needs an extra furlong and easy ground!

STARLUST bounced back from a disappointing effort to win a big handicap at York. That career-best effort coincided with the return to five furlongs and easy ground. On that note, Ralph Beckett’s charge is moving back up to 6F at a stiff track and on fast ground, both of which can be deemed negatives!

Jim Crowley managed to get JASOUR to settle better when winning his return race over this course & distance. After being held up off the pace, the grey found the gaps and came through to beat ADAAY IN DEVON by 1.25L. However, while the Clive Cox-trained colt finished his race in good style, I was under the impression he got the first run on the 2nd-placed runner and it made the difference. If we cut a long story short, I’m not convinced his form will hold up!

INISHERIN is more stoutly bred than a typical sprinter, and with that in mind, Kevin Ryan started the son of SHARMADAL off at a mile. In fact, on his second start, Tom Eaves rode him to win over that distance at Newcastle, beating the useful KALPANA (3.5 lengths) in the process.

Next time, the Sheikh Mohammed Obaid Al Maktoum-owned colt was a solid 6th in the 2000 Guineas. After showing a lot of speed he led the field to the 2F marker and was only beaten 4.75L.

On his most recent start, connections decided to drop INISHERIN back to 6 furlongs. After disputing the lead for the first two furlongs, he was soon in control of the race and won by 3.75L.

Racing at a stiffer track like Ascot should suit Ryan’s runner! We know he likes to race up with the pace, and the jockey will be keen to make this a strong test. With everything considered, this easy-to-ride youngster should get first run and win with a bit in hand – banker material.
