BETTER THAN A HANDICAPPER

HAYDOCK 1:30 AL DASIM 4/1

Tom Clover is using a 7-pound claimer to take the weight off ROGUE SPIRIT. Nevertheless, Connor Planas could only get him into 7th/18 in his last race, and I can’t imagine this challenge being any easier. My other concern for favourite is the distance, he needs a sixth furlong.

Meanwhile, KUWAIT CITY should be better suited for this course compared to Windsor. John Butler’s colt is receiving a bit of weight from the principals, and he’s got a bit more to give. In short, I would place the son of PEARL SECRET 2nd, and I wouldn’t put anyone off from doing the forecast.

Despite having only raced 5 times, AL DASIM is on his 3rd trainer. The owner wasn’t happy with Clive Cox or Kevin Philippart De Foy, so now it’s the turn of George Boughey. I for one expect the Newmarket handler to get more out of the son of Harry Angel.

This good-looking colt was last seen racing in a Deauville Listed race. On that occasion, he faded late on to finish a 2.75L sixth. However, if you take the time to rewatch the race, you should be able to see he’s better than the bare result.

In fact, he jinked left leaving the stalls and a bump lit him up. Also, after taking the lead at halfway he ran around in front before being headed with 150M to run. By the way, the runner who finished one place in front was 107 rated EDDIES BOY. For the record, Archie Watson’s charge went on to win a Chantilly Group 3 by 6.5L.

In conclusion, with a mark of 90, the handicapper has given Pat Cosgrove’s mount a good chance. Consequently, I’m expecting this fella to be listed class, thus giving a bit of weight away isn’t going to be an issue.
