In my opinion, the lightly raced FLYAWAYDREAM is a hard ride. With that in mind, Poppy Scott is unlikely to get the best out of the 4-year-old. Also, he races like he needs further than a mile, albeit Ascot does put an emphasis on stamina.
The best win record belongs to ONE STEP BEYOND, and he’s won over course & distance. However, while he’s capable of turf, seven of his eight wins came on the all-weather surface.
As for SHALADOR, Olive Nicholls Mount is placing but not winning. In fact, Kevin Ryan’s charge was 2nd on eight occasions, whereas he only won three of his 22 races.
By the way, the Alice Haynes trained MAYSONG was runner-up on 14 occasions. And, while the 6-year-old won four races back, he benefitted from being ridden by a 7-pound claiming jockey.
For the record, Fern O’Brien’s mount was never able to win off a mark higher than 79, and he’s loaded with 81 today. We have enough reason to take on the principals, and we will do just that with ALAZWAR.

Archie Watson’s 5-year-old won 4 of his 20 races, and the last of them was off a ten-pound higher mark. Incidentally, that race was in September of last year, and as with today’s race, it was run over a mile. The geldings jockey Brodie Hampson is an accomplished rider, and she did us a big favor yesterday.
While AWTAAD’s son was ridden from behind in his last two races, I can imagine him either leading or tracking the pace. With stamina assured, this is a good opportunity.
