BIG VALUE RACING PICK AT LUDLOW

BIG VALUE RACING PICK AT LUDLOW

LUDLOW 2:50 QUINTA DO MAR 8/1

While BALLYBEG was a comfortable winner of his last race over CD, his jumping left a bit to be desired. He jumped markedly left, which is a big disadvantage on a right-handed track. In my opinion, the other runners in that race underperformed, and as such his margin of victory was enhanced. To cut a long story short, being raised 11 pounds for that win is brutal, and so are the odds of around 15/8!!

CAN YOU CALL won 3 of his 16 races to date, and he’s one from six over fences. On the downside, he’s 4 pounds higher in this sphere, and he seems to be best when racing at Uttoxeter. While the extra distance and easy ground won’t be an issue, Evan Williams’ 9-year-old is unproven on a right-handed track.

When trained in France by Francois Nicolle, DEMNAT was progressive in winning two of his 8 races. Based on those efforts, a mark of 122 is fair enough. However, despite connections raising €64,000 for his acquisition, the 7-year-old hasn’t raced for 961 days. Indeed, he’s an intriguing participant, but for now, I would recommend a watching brief.

GALAHAD QUEST started his campaign by finishing 6th/12 in a handicap hurdle. Jane Williams’ 8-year-old is better over fences, it’s just that he’s 6 pounds higher in this sphere. Also worth noting, the son of AMERICAN POST won his 3 races on a left-handed track. Nevertheless, he’s one with a chance, and odds of around 4/1 feel right!

As for the betting suggestion, it’s the outsider of the party QUINTA DO MAR. The 5-times winner is returning to fences on a fair mark of 132. While he was disappointing in his last race at Kempton, the 9-year-old had previously run well to finish a close 3rd/6 to ISSAM. Ben Pauling’s gelding is a course winner, and today’s conditions should be fine. Finally, the booking of David Bass and coming from an in-form stable are positives.
