CHELTENHAM RACES: BETTING PREVIEW & PICK

CHELTENHAM RACES: BETTING PREVIEW & PICK

 2:05 TITAN DISCOVERY 13/2

Lightly-raced DOYEN QUEST represents a stable in excellent form. The 5-year-old won his last race at Newbury by a neck from STEEL ALLY, with the 3rd horse 9.5L back. The form is fair, the son of DOYEN was raised 7 pounds for winning that Grade 3. Dan Skelton’s runner-up should improve again, but I doubt he will follow up in this better race.

SEA INVASION was well-supported before winning easily at Plumpton. Since that was the 6-year-old’s first handicap, he should have more to offer. The question now is can Chris Gordon’s gelding handle a two Grade hike in class from a 7-pound higher handicap mark? In my opinion, he should be available at bigger odds!

The Nicky Henderson pair SPRING NOTE & PENTLAND HILLS should be competitive for a place. The two that would interest me at bigger odds are WINDTOTHELIGHTING and ARQOOB. However, for the winner, the choice is clear;

TITAN DISCOVERY comes from a stable in fantastic form. Robbie Llewellyn is one of a few trainers who has a positive betting return at the starting price. The 6-year-old gelding won two of his eight races, and over the last four months, he’s progressed 20 pounds in the handicap.

With a clear run, the son of PETHER’S MOON would have won his last race. While he’s been raised another three pounds for finishing second, he should be able to offset that burden on a track that suits!

In conclusion, the race should be run to suit TITAN DISCOVERY. With conditions to suit, he’s one of the best bets today!
