Mansfield is looking better than ever, and they are an excellent road team!
A 50-mile drive to Doncaster is hardly hazardous, and during the last campaign, they won both fixtures against the Rovers!
For the record, on the last visit to the Eco-Power stadium, the visitors won 1-3. We should also mention that the reverse fixture ended in a comfortable 4-1.
The Stags started the campaign with a draw in Crewe, and they should have won that match. However, silly boy Macdonald got himself sent off on 58 minutes, and that helped Crewe get the equalizer.
Nevertheless, since then Mansfield won back-to-back fixtures against Grimsby and Morecambe. While the first of those was in the cup, the other was a 3-0 League Two win.
Incidentally, in that most recent match, Nigel Clough’s men had a whopping 26 goal attempts! While only five of those were on target, an xG of 3.44 to 0.22 points to the scoreline is fair!
As for Doncaster, Grant McCann’s team lost both league fixtures to date. In the opening round, a 56th-minute penalty was enough to give Harrogate a 0-1 win. Subsequently, three goals within 21 minutes and another in 49 minutes were enough for Newport (4-0) to maul the Rovers!
In conclusion, the visitors are looking strong than ever, and the same can’t be said about the Rovers. We believe Mansfield will be promoted at the end of the season, and to manage that they need to win games like this. The Stags have sold all allocated tickets for this short journey to South Yorkshire, and the fans should be going home happy!
