FFOS LAS – GET ON

14:50 TOP TARGET 9/2

While OSCAR THYNE stayed on well at Cheltenham, that is a stiffer track than Ffos Las. Furthermore, he came off a strong pace that day, and he was staying on past tired rivals.

Fergal O’Brien’s 8-year-old is 3 pounds higher, and his 3-pound claiming jockey is replaced by Paddy Brennan. To cut a long story short, he needs further and the 6-pound extra weight won’t help. Finally, he’s the type to do better when he returns to fences.

As for MIDNIGHT GINGER, the mare should get the extra half a mile. However, she’s 3 pounds higher for winning a poor race. All of the early money is for the Sam Thomas-trained JAZZ KING.

On that note, if we look at the grey geldings profile, we can see he was a beaten favorite on four occasions. Whether the first-time blinkers give the 7-year-old a lift remains to be seen, but for now, he’s an unproven morning wonder!

Following his last run, TOP TARGET qualified for a handicap mark. In that race he was beaten 2.25L by the now 120-rated I SHUT THAT D’OR. If we take into consideration the 7 pounds he gave to the winner, he could be rated 1-2 pounds higher. Also, the 100 rated 3rd was a further 24L behind, and he too was receiving 7 pounds.

Kim Bailey’s 5 year old was the winner of a point-to-point and a novice hurdle. The ground & the distance should be ideal, and he’s got the scope to improve.
