FONTWELL RACES – GET ON
1:40 FABRIQUE EN FRANCE 9/4 (5/2 Exchanges)
You won’t see many (2.8%) fallers over the fences of Fontwell. Nevertheless, the track’s uphill and downhill undulations make it tricky, and getting into a jumping rhythm is a challenge.
On his only visit here, GARINCHA unseated his rider! While that was over hurdles, he’s since fallen at Haydock.
Don’t get me wrong, the betting favourite has scope to do better over fences and the underfoot conditions will suit. However, despite the lack of opposition, I would be apprehensive about taking short odds.
Another disadvantage for Neil Mulholland’s 7-year-old is he’s set to give 7-pounds to the next two in the betting.
The bookmaker’s 2nd-favorite is FABRIQUE EN FRANCE, and he too needs to answer a question. In this instance, will the 8-year-old stay the extra 3.5 furlongs on the testing ground?
I believe the answer is an unequivocal yes, with my main reasoning being his run at Leicester and the fact he stayed 3-miles in point to points.
The selection will be ridden by a good amateur, namely James King. The ground won’t be an issue, and these odds are more than fair. In fact, with all the early money coming for LUCKOFTHEDRAW, he’s making the market for betting Olly Murphy’s runner.
