LUZERN vs ST GALLEN – SWISS SUPERLEAGUE

While Luzern is the higher-placed team, we can’t rate the hosts any better than St Gallen. In fact, the Shiners are a liability when they play at home, and recent efforts have come up short.

For the record, Mario Frick’s team lost their last match 2-0 in Grasshoppers, and if we go back three games they were defeated 5-1 by Young Boys. While a 2-2 against Lugano was sandwiched in between, we thought they were lucky to come from two goals down!

St Gallen went through a phase of ten league games without a win, but they did bounce back to win their last game. In fact, the Espen annihilated Basle 6-1, and it could have been 10 goals if they converted chances better.

On the 10th of February, the reverse fixture ended in a 2-2 draw. On that occasion, St Gallen coach Peter Ziedler must have been ecstatic with the result. After all, his team had been reduced to 10 men when goalkeeper Avi-Zigl had been sent off at 21 minutes!

The other two meetings ended in a draw and a St Gallen win (4-1).

For the most part, the visitors have a talented team and they should be capable of finishing the season strongly.

GENT vs CERCLEE BRUGGE – BELGIUM JUPILER

Better late than never, Gent is playing their best football of the season! In fact, since this Conference League group began, Vanhaezebrouck’s men racked up three wins!

For the record, these two clubs met in the last round, and on that occasion, the scoreline was 0-4 to the Buffalos!

To be fair, Ravych was sent off for a 2nd yellow card on 22 minutes for Cerclee. And, while the goals piled on, the first was scored in 41 minutes.

While Cerclee won the earlier away league fixture, it’s not normal for Gent to drop points at the Ghelamco.

The hosts are going to be on heat for another three points!
