GLORIOUS GOODWOOD – COURSE SPECIALIST

 1:40 LORD RIDDIFORD

While the jockey and race commentary suggest RAASEL didn’t get the clearest of runs at Ascot, it wasn’t a deal breaker! In fact, my reading of the race was different, in that when the gap appeared, he didn’t have the pace to take advantage. Nevertheless, it was a fair effort, and Michael Appleby’s sprinter is a pound lower today.

In conclusion, the ground won’t affect the 6-year-olds chance. He ticks the CD box, and James Doyle knows him well. With that said, I’m not expecting the favorite to win!

At Ascot, VINTAGE CLARETS finished one length in front of the aforementioned. However, from the front. he he the run of the race. Also, on this occasion, his 5-pound claiming jockey is being replaced by 3-pound claimer Callum Hutchinson. In short, the 4-year-old should run his race, but he’s beatable!

Other course & distance winners DREAM COMPOSER & WHENTHEDEALISDONE deserve respect, albeit they need to bounce back from poor runs.

If I had to take a wild punt at big odds, ACKLAM COURT would be of interest. After all, he’s down in the weights, and at this best, he would be more than capable.

THE SELECTION

To tell the truth, the bet I’m going to suggest is based on the ‘’horses for courses’’ theory.

As a matter of fact, LORD RIDDIFORD won 3 of his 4 visits to Goodwood and two of those were this race.

For the record, John Quinn’s grey is 3 lower than he was when winning last year, and 4 pounds lower than in 2021.

Furthermore, he wasn’t beaten that far in his last race at Epsom, and he followed a similar pattern before winning those last two renewals.

Finally, Andrea Atzeni is a good jockey booking, and a lowly weight of 8-5 is the icing on the cake!
